Frame 1:

阿摩林： 咱们最好去外滩园坐坐。
Suckah: The best thing for us to do is to go to The Bund and sit for awhile.

老夫子：可别再去大世界了。
The Professor: I will never go to the Big World again.

老白薯： 我带你们出去看看上海的文明。
Mr. Potato Head: I will take you out to see Shanghai's Culture.

Frame 2:

老白薯： 你瞪着眼干什么
Mr. Potato Head: Look at me like that, what do you think you are going to do?

第一生气演员： 想揍你
Angry Actor #1: I think I am going to punch you.

Frame 1:

老白薯：咱们比比试试
Mr. Potato Head: We'll show you who's tougher!

第一生气演员： 你先同他们比比试试
Angry Actor #1: First show them who's tougher.

Frame 1:

老白薯： 你们上那里去了！
Mr. Potato Head: Where have you guys been!?

老夫子： 你不是老白薯吗？
The Professor: Aren't you Mr. Potato Head?

Frame 2:

老白薯： 你也来了。
Mr. Potato Head: You're here too!

阿摩林： 可把你找着了。
Suckah: We found you!

Frame 1:

老白薯： 告诉招考的人说我们已经取是额了不再考了。
Mr. Potato Head: Tell the people waiting for an audition that we have already got everyone we need and won't have anymore auditions.

Frame 2:

第一生气演员： 这是骗局我们把牙也敲了他们连考试也不让我们考非揍他们不可！
Angry Actor #1: This is fraud! We should knock their teeth out! They end the auditions without letting us try. We must beat them.

第二生气演员： 好我们决定等他们出来揍他一顿。
Angry Actor #2: Ok, Let's resolve to wait for them to come out and when they do we beat them.

The Foundation of China's Construction Boom

These people are shoveling sand for about 5 Yuan a cubic meter. The sand is to be trucked into the city and used in construction. A truckload of sand (4 cubic meters) is then sold for 120-200+ Yuan. One guy I know has been shoveling about 8 truckloads of sand a day since spring. This summer he has made about 6000 Yuan. He is probably one of the most in shape people I have ever seen. I gave it a try and shoveled a piddly 1 cubic meter of wet sand before my friends, thankfully, made me stop. I think if I had kept going my back would surely have seized up.

Frame 1:

老白薯： 你会干什么？
Mr. Potato Head: What can you do?

演员：什么都会。
Actor: I can do anything.

老白薯： 什么都会！ 你会生孩子吗？
Mr. Potato Head: You can do anything! Can you give birth to a son?



Frame 1:

演员: 你看成吗。
Actor: What do you think?

老白薯： 好一定取你，你就凭这点你一定能成为明星。
Mr. Potato Head: Great, Surely we'll take you. Because of this you will surely be a star.

老白薯： 要找一个缺牙的有小辫子的才好。
Mr. Potato Head: You want me to find a person with a small queue and few teeth?

电影公司老板： 那不成问题由您选择人才好了
Film Company Boss: That's not a problem. You just choose a talented person.

Suckah: The film company is holding auditions for someone with a small queue and few teeth. That's perfect for you.

老夫子： 哈哈真是。
The Professor: Hehe, definitely.

Frame 2:

老夫子： 快跑恐怕报不上名去了！
The Professor: Run faster, I am afraid we won't get there in time to sign me up.

Picking Mushrooms

Apple, Aunt #3 and I climbed the mountain today to pick mushrooms. It was quite beautiful but we weren't very successful at mushroom picking. I found 3! It seemed to be a popular day for hunting mushrooms and we met several neighbors out doing the same thing. The mushrooms can be sold after drying for about $6 a pound (this estimate could be very off as I am converting jin to pounds and Yuan to dollar). I do know that they are worth quite a bit. We never sell any though prefering to eat them ourselves.
